Dave is originally from Aberdeen, Scotland.

Dave, a professional musician for 15 years, realized that proficiency at the bagpipes would only extend his green card for so long. So, wisely, in order to avoid deportation back to Aberdeen, Dave decided to attend college here in the states. Because he was such a regular visitor to the on-campus counseling center, it was advised that he might choose his “Major” in the Mental Health field. Dave agreed and, much to our good fortune, has been a practicing professional for the past 11 years. Dave’s gift as a song writer is as evident as his poetic words of advice. “What I have come to believe is that our lives seem to go much smoother if we take responsibility for, and are accountable for, our own actions, irrespective of what others may think or say.”

Nancy Mac Kay
Doctor of Clinical Psychology

Nancy, originally from Atlanta, Georgia has been a licensed clinical psychologist since 1991. She interned at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in 1990 and has been working at Burnham Woods Counseling Center (original name) for the past 14 years. She was “lured to Florida by the warm weather.” Nancy feels that, “people can be so complex that they often are unaware of their own strengths.” She believes that the “greater rewards of working as a psychologist continue to be helping individuals discover their unique abilities, gain access to those strengths, get the most out of each day, and help them cope with whatever life throws their way."

Hal Frank
Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor

Hal is originally from New York City and has been a practicing therapist for 38 years. Hal has advanced training in EMDR and has done some profound work in the areas of psychological trauma. Hal is also an avid fan of the University of Florida football “Gators” which further proves that we are an equal opportunity employer. Hal believes that: “people are very resilient . . . and I have learned much about me from my patients and have hopefully grown with them.”

Claire Boland
Licensed Mental Health Counselor

Claire, a very in-demand therapist, has been providing EAP services to Kennedy Space Center for more than 10 years. She has also been a practicing therapist at Burnham Woods, Champa and Associates Counseling Centers since 1991. Claire began her life journey in South Georgia but went to Japan and lived there from the age of 9 through 16. She graduated high school in Hawaii, went back to Georgia to attend college, officially began her professional career in California . . . and then to Florida. Her conclusions: “In all these years and all these places, I have found that the human spirit is truly awesome. I’ve witnessed people come through things that we might think of as insurmountable; however, they grew and changed and even prospered because they just didn’t give up.”

Becky Miller
Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Becky is a licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who joined our staff and is accepting patients for psychiatric evaluations and medication management. Currently Becky is also in private practice with Dr. Charles Slattery, M.D. at his Satellite Beach office. Recently Becky started providing services to children at the Devereux Foundation, in Melbourne, Florida.

Becky has an extensive psychiatric background and was honored to have Gary Burnham participate in her wedding 18 years ago. One, has nothing to do with the other. Gary is also an uncle to Becky’s children, Colin and Taylor, both are grounded at this time. This second piece of information also has nothing to do with the first. Colin has ADD; Gary has ADD . . . again, both, unrelated to the other. We look forward to Becky’s arrival and are additionally hopeful that she might consider medicating some of our staff.

A. Amir Mirsajadi, M.D.
Licensed and Board Certified in General Psychiatry

Dr. Mirsajadi, often referred to as “Dr. M” by his patients who generally butcher the pronunciation of his name, originally joined Burnham Woods, Champa and Associates Counseling Centers in 1996. He practices general psychiatry with children, adolescents and adults. To describe this very unassuming man only as a skilled practitioner doesn’t quite paint the appropriate picture; but to say very much would cause him some embarrassment. He absolutely REFUSES to have his picture taken so let’s just conclude by saying that this is a gentle, caring, good-hearted man who is never to busy or self important to make all of his patients feel equally important and cared for.
